Frequently remote controlled processes have a dimensional and functional complexity that requires an ad hoc architecture based on the typical three levels: control center, communication network and RTU. The IoT evolution leads to the definition of a new hierarchically higher level than the previous three: level 0, which constitutes a HUB towards new platforms based on cloud technologies.
This solution optimizes the synergy between traditional architecture and cloud technologies, maintaining the specialization and autonomy of the SCADA system for field control and delegating interoperability with the IT and IoT worlds to level 0. The HUB cloud level not only aggregates the remote control data and processes information, but also manages interoperability with external applications via dedicated web services.
